What is a domain?
A domain is the unique name that identifies an Internet site. For example, the domain name of vsm is vsm.net.
How can I check if a domain is available?
You can check if a domain is available by entering the domain name at the following website (please note that you should not input the "www", use only the domain name: i.e. vsm.net):
https://secure.registerapi.com/services/whois.php?siteid=38189
What is an URL?
An URL is the address of a specific location of a file or website page on the internet. For example, the URL for the contact page of the vsm.net site is http://www.vsm.net/contactus.htm
If I do not want to purchase a domain, what would my website URL be?
The site URL would be your business name preceded by vsm.net. For example, for a business called Joey's Pizza, the URL would be as follows:
http://vsm.net/joeyspizza
How many email addresses can I have?
If you purchase a new domain name, you are entitled to 10 branded emails. For example, if Joey from Joey's Pizza buys a domain called joeyspizza.com, he is entitled to 10 emails that all end with joeyspizza.com. The designation of each email name is up to you (for example, one email could be info@joeyspizza.com or joey@joeyspizza.com or pizza@joeyspizza.com) for a maximum of 10.
If you choose not to purchase a new domain and instead use the url provided by vsm, you must provide your own email address.

Is there a limit to how many images or media files I can provide to be used in my website?
Template packages are limited to the inclusion of five media files total added to site. This includes, but is not limited to the following types of files:
- photographs
- logos
- clip art
- graphics
- animated media
- sound files
- movie files
Can the templates be modified?
Colors, fonts, and placement of graphics that are not supplied by clients cannot be modified.
Am I restricted in the amount of written content I can provide?
No, you can provide as much written content as needed to fulfill your site goals.
Can the template be made wider?
Templates are designed for optimal viewing by the greatest majority of users. Therefore, templates cannot be made any wider or narrower.
Can I specify the layout of the content I provide?
Our expert graphic designers will be in charge of the placement of content for the most efficient and professional display of client information. Special requests for formatting will be considered, if a reasonable explanation is provided.
When I preview the templates, they show very little space for actual content or very little content overall. Will I be forced to use this small amount of space/content for my own site?
Templates will expand vertically (towards the bottom) to accommodate any amount of content provided. There are no limitations in how much the template can stretch vertically, so space is not limited. It's best to view a working example of a mock template site so you can see how the site will expand to fit content and images. VSM suggests keeping content provided down to a reasonable amount. Too much content can discourage visitors from reading altogether.
Once a site is completed, what is the process to update my website?
If you are interested in updating the content of their website, contact vsm.net directly by sending an email to info@vsm.net with your request. Requests must outline the site involved (ex: joeyspizza.com) and the page on which the changes are to be made (ex: the “about us” page, or the “home” page). Client must also supply the text or other content needed for the request. Client updates are billed at $40 per hour, billed in 15-minute increments. A credit card is required. You also have the option of setting up an FTP account. This will enable you or another content manager to update the website at not charge.
